Morganite is the very attractive, pink variety of beryl. Other varieties of beryl include emerald (green), aquamarine (blue), and heliodor (yellow).
Morganite was discovered in Madagascar, in 1910, and was named after famous financier, J.P. Morgan, who was an avid gem collector.
