Rubellite

​Rubellite is the very attractive, pinkish red to red variety of tourmaline.  Rubellite is the most valuable variety of all tourmalines, with the exception of the extremely rare Paraíba tourmaline.

Famous Rubellite:

Fine quality rubellite can sometimes be mistaken for ruby.  As a matter of fact, the Russian Crown Jewel known as "Caesar's Ruby" was later determined to be a red tourmaline (rubellite) pendant, not ruby!
