Collection: Trapiche Emerald

Unapologetically rare and impossibly striking, trapiche emeralds are the rebels of the emerald world.  Named after the six-spoke cogwheel used to crush sugar cane, these captivating gems form when dark carbon impurities grow within the emerald’s hexagonal crystal structure, creating dramatic six-pointed stars that seem almost too perfect to be natural.

First documented in 1879 by French mineralogist Emile Bertrand, trapiche emeralds remain one of the rarest types of naturally-occurring emerald to this day.
