ABOUT THE ITEM
Sapphires are considered one of the “Big 3” precious gems and often command some of the highest prices per carat in fine qualities. Over 95% of sapphires are heated to improve their appearance.  Sapphire is a 9 out of 10 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, second only to diamond.  In addition to their beauty, sapphire's resistance to scratching is another reason why it's such a popular gem.

Most people automatically think of the color blue when picturing a sapphire.  However, sapphires occur naturally in many different colors, rarely displaying two colors within the same crystal.

This extremely rare and unusual, natural bi-color sapphire displays both yellow and blue hues.  This beautiful bicolor gem measures 7.30 x 5.60 x 4.30mm and weighs 1.62 carats.  There are several inclusions within the interior of the gemstone that confirm it to be a natural sapphire that has been routinely heated.
