ABOUT THE ITEM
Spinel is a wonderful gem that occurs naturally in many different colors, even colorless. The most valued spinel colors are red, cobalt blue, vivid pink and orange, with the finest qualities rivaling high quality rubies and sapphires. Spinel was cherished by ancient emperors and monarchs, as it was originally thought to be ruby. It wasn't until 1783 when mineralogist Jean Baptiste Louis Rome de Lisle identified spinel as a different mineral than ruby.
This platinum three-stone ring is centered by a gorgeous, no-heat red spinel of Burmese origin. The natural spinel measures 6.65 x 6.10 x 3.48mm and weighs in at 1.04 carats. It is a very rich, luscious red hue, similar to fine quality rubies. It has several natural inclusions within the gem that are only visible under magnification.
The natural spinel is flanked by a perfectly-matched pair of Cadillac shaped natural diamonds. The diamonds have a total carat weight of 0.62 carat.
Accompanied by GIA Spinel Origin Report Number 6234272275.
