Scott Papper is a Graduate Gemologist (GIA), Certified Master Appraiser (NAJA), Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), Registered Gemologist Appraiser (ISG), and Accredited Senior Gemologist (AGA), to name only a handful. Rubies are considered one of the “Big 3” precious gems and often command the highest prices per carat amongst all colored gems. Over 95% of rubies are heated to improve their color. Natural, unheated rubies are more rare, and more valuable, than heated rubies of the same quality. Historically, the most valuable rubies have been mined in Burma (now known as Myanmar).
This magnificent platinum ring is centered by a 2.27 carat No-Heat natural ruby of Burmese origin. The ruby is a strongly-saturated red hue, as described in its accompanying GIA Ruby Origin Report which also states no indications of heating. The ruby is flanked by two round brilliant cut natural diamonds of G color and VS1 clarity, totaling 0.80 carat. The platinum setting is stamped "PLAT", is presently a size 6.75, and has a gross weight of 6.3 grams.
