This Victorian Era antique brooch features precious pink coral and natural seed pearls set in an .800 silver lucky clover motif. There are seven (7) half-drilled, precious pink coral buttons. These coral buttons average 6.0 x 3.5mm in size and show natural growth banding. The brooch also contains two (2) tiny natural seed pearls, averaging just over 1.0mm in diameter. The seed pearls are white with silver overtones. Most gems are minerals, but both coral and natural pearls are organic gems, meaning that they were produced by living organisms. The 80% pure silver has developed a beautiful, nearly black patina due to its age. The pin is hallmarked "800", and sticks out well past the C-clutch which was typical of early Victorian era brooches. Overall dimensions of the brooch are 1 1/2" x 1/2". Gross weight is 2.9 grams. |
