Native American jewelry is known for its handmade designs in sterling silver, often set with turquoise, coral, and other local gems. Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi are the three main tribes responsible for producing some of the most beautiful, creative and exciting sterling silver jewelry in American history.
Navajo jewelry is known for large, chunky gems bezel-set in sterling silver. Squash blossom necklaces are a signature of Navajo jewelry. Often embellished with large chunks of turquoise, coral, or other local gems, squash blossom necklaces can be quite valuable depending on quality.
This vintage Navajo squash blossom necklace was hand fabricated in sterling silver. It features twenty (20) natural turquoise cabochons mounted in pierced collets. The necklace is embellished with Native American symbolism throughout, including a naja, squash blossoms, feathers, and hogans. The necklace measures 28 inches in length and is fastened by a handmade hook clasp.
